Breaking Barriers is a new Arts Project for adults with learning disabilities. Not only does it offer an exciting opportunity to develop personal creativity and skills for life through creative and performing arts, but also gives trainees the chance to make an impact and affect change within their own and the wider community.


The aims of this project:

* Promote positive views towards people with learning disabilities within the
community

* Develop alternative ways of expression

* Develop artistic excellence

* Promote further employment and life skills

 

What will I do?

You will work with experienced teachers, artists and support staff. Though performing and creative arts, you can develop and improve a variety of life and employment skills. These include communication, advocacy, problem solving, teamwork, numeracy and literacy skills.

NOTHING! We are initially funded by the National Lottery and the IMPACT Outreach Network

Where will it be held?

Stirling Road Arts Centre, Stirling Road, Acton, on Fridays 10am-4pm

How long will it last?

The project runs for 36 weeks a year. Funding has been secured for 3 years with the view for ongoing
